IGB Staff Now Have Expanded Law Enforcement Powers

SPRINGFIELD July 16, 2012 — Under a bill signed into law by Governor Pat Quinn, Illinois Gaming Board Staff now have expanded law enforcement powers.

This bill formalizes the authority of IGB investigators to conduct investigations, searches, seizures, and arrests under the Video Gaming Act. IGB investigators will have the authority of peace officers in connection with conduct related to video gaming, including, but not limited to, manufacture, supply, distribution, operation, placement, service, maintenance, and play of terminals. The investigators must exercise this authority, to the fullest extent practicable, in cooperation with local law enforcement. The bill has an immediate effective date, which means that it is now the law of the State of Illinois.
